Responsibilities:
- Carefully inspect apple trees to identify ripe and ready-to-pick apples.
- Utilize specialized harvesting tools, such as ladders and picking bags, to gather apples from the trees efficiently and without causing damage to the fruit or trees.
- Sort and separate apples based on their quality, size, and type, adhering to established standards.
- Pack apples into designated containers or crates, ensuring proper handling to avoid bruising or spoilage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the removal of fallen apples, branches, and other debris to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with fellow Apple Pickers and supervisors to coordinate tasks and meet production goals.
- Follow established safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report any issues, such as equipment malfunctions or tree diseases, to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods, in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and carry crates or bags of apples, and climb ladders as necessary.
- Attention to detail to identify ripe apples and sort them accurately.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
- Prior experience in fruit picking or agricultural work is an asset but not mandatory.
