Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Trades Helper to join our team and assist in various construction projects across Canada. As a Construction Trades Helper, you will work closely with skilled tradespeople to provide support and ensure the smooth operation of construction sites.

Table of Contents

Responsibilities:

  1. Material Handling: Assist in the transportation and organization of construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from the worksite. This may include loading and unloading trucks, storing materials, and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
  2. Site Preparation: Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing debris, setting up barricades, and securing safety equipment. Help in the installation of temporary structures such as scaffolding, ramps, and walkways.
  3. Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. Keep them in good working condition and report any defects or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  4. Construction Assistance: Aid tradespeople in their daily tasks by handing them tools, holding materials in place, and providing general assistance as required. Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and efficient completion of construction projects.
  5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures on construction sites. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and actively participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  6. Site Cleanup: Assist in the cleanup and removal of debris, waste materials, and hazardous substances from construction sites. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the worksite.
  7. Communication: Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other tradespeople to ensure a coordinated and efficient workflow. Report any concerns, issues, or incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset but not required.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle and manipulate tools and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials, and techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
