Responsibilities:
- Livestock Care:
- Assist in the feeding, watering, and overall care of dairy cattle.
- Monitor and observe the health and behavior of the animals, promptly reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
- Help with the milking process, ensuring proper techniques and hygiene standards are followed.
- Barn Maintenance:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of barns, milking parlors, and other areas to maintain a clean and safe environment for the livestock.
- Help in the bedding process, ensuring comfortable and hygienic resting areas for the cows.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and facilities as needed.
- Herd Management:
- Support the team in the identification, tagging, and record-keeping of the animals.
- Assist with vaccinations, deworming, and other healthcare procedures under the guidance of the veterinarian.
- Aid in the sorting and moving of cattle for breeding, milking, and veterinary purposes.
- Milk Production:
- Assist in the collection, storage, and transfer of milk to appropriate storage tanks.
- Help in the operation and cleaning of milking equipment.
- Adhere to quality control measures and ensure milk handling and storage practices meet regulatory standards.
- Farm Operations:
- Collaborate with the team in various farm tasks, including fieldwork, cropping, and machinery operation during peak seasons.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Actively participate in training programs and stay updated on industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a similar role or a strong interest in the dairy industry is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of livestock care and farm operations.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during busy periods.
