Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our organization as a Social Farm Lead. As the Social Farm Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of our social farm, promoting community engagement, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices. Responsibilities:

  1. Social Farm Management:
  • Develop and execute the overall strategy and vision for the social farm, in alignment with the organization's goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day operations, including crop production, animal care, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Implement sustainable farming practices, such as organic farming methods, water conservation, and waste management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and maintain accurate records.
  1. Community Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the local community, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Organize and facilitate educational programs, workshops, and events to promote sustainable agriculture, environmental awareness, and healthy living.
  • Collaborate with community members, volunteers, and interns to foster a sense of inclusion and participation.
  1. Social Initiatives:
  • Identify and develop social initiatives that align with the organization's mission, such as food security, nutrition education, or therapeutic horticulture.
  • Create and implement programs to address the needs of vulnerable or marginalized groups in the community.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and government agencies to access funding and resources for social initiatives.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise farm staff, volunteers, and interns, providing guidance, support, and feedback.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, creativity, and continuous learning.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the smooth functioning of farm operations and social programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Work, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in farm management, preferably with a focus on sustainable agriculture or social farming.
  • Strong knowledge of organic farming practices, crop rotation, pest management, and animal husbandry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in managing teams and coordinating projects.
  • Understanding of social issues, community development, and the ability to develop and implement social initiatives.
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to farm management and recordkeeping.
