Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing the land for planting, which includes tilling, fertilizing, and cultivating the soil.
- Plant, monitor, and maintain grain crops, including seeding, applying pesticides, and irrigation.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, combines, and grain dryers.
- Conduct routine inspections of crops to identify and address any potential issues, such as pests, diseases, or weed infestations.
- Harvest and store grain crops according to established procedures, ensuring proper handling and storage techniques.
- Assist in maintaining farm infrastructure, including repairing fences, gates, and irrigation systems as needed.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from supervisors to ensure efficient farm operations.
- Participate in general farm tasks, including general maintenance, cleaning, and other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar farm labour role is preferred but not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals who are eager to learn.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural practices and equipment is an asset.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment is desirable.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- A positive attitude and willingness to take on diverse tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to the farm.
Working Conditions: This position requires working outdoors for extended periods, exposed to varying weather conditions. The work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during critical farming seasons. The job may involve physical exertion, lifting heavy objects, and operating machinery, which requires strict adherence to safety protocols.
